Summary: Superb Country for Beginners
Comment: Being a movie rather than music buff it is only recently I've begun to enjoy country music as a excellent backdrop to both this film and 'Walk the Line'.
This album is a perfect introduction opening your ears to the music aswell as recalling the stunning visuals and plot of the film.

The soundtrack combines Gustavo Santaolalla's superbly subtle Oscar winning original score with original gems such as Willie Nelson's 'He was a Friend of Mine', Emmylou Harris's 'A Love That Will Never Grow Old' and covers of country classics (It's so easy and King of the Road)

Those looking a full original score soundtrack will be dissapointed but the differing pace, style and vocals from within the country spectrum makes this album a pleasure to listen to for any listener.

A must for any fan of the film or country music and i defy anyone to not start dancing to Steve Earle's 'The Devil's Right Hand'!

Summary: Could be better!
Comment: Having seen the film I was taken with a lot of the indidental music it contained. This cd while good only contains about 60% of the songs used in the movie. The Gustavo Santaolalla tracks are great, but what happened to D.I.V.O.R.C.E. and a lot of the other songs used? Also why was the original Roger Miller "King of the Road" replaced by a rather weak Teddy Thompson and Rufus Wainwright cover? If you're selling an album as the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Surely that's what it should be!

Summary: Gustavo Santaolalla & so on
Comment: The film was beautifully set in rolling western american landscape and I have to say in all honesty that this soundtrack, especially the Gustavo Santaolalla contributions, fit the film perfectly and complemented the scenery and dialogue almost as if you were there.

I have to say that the film would have been a lot less satisfying without this music and it really was the music in combination with the film that made me shed a tear.

Although be sure that you don't just skip to the last track, which is the most haunting and famous refrain !

Summary: Brokeback
Comment: Like many viewers of the film, I wasn't in a hurry to forget it, and it found its way into my thoughts in the way a true classic can.
This album is a great souvenir - those gentle, yearning guitar pastorals are all intact. Also included are a bunch of country songs/Americana tracks. These are for the most part attractive and emotionally driven, but for this reviewer they have nothing of the beauty contained in the instrumental tracks. Purely a personal thing - because I'm sure they'll latch onto plenty of listeners at the right moment. And they are consistently produced, unlike those on some soundtrack albums.
Be aware that those uniquely beautiful guitar tracks make up just over twelve minutes (and make a nice programme) of a forty-five minute album. But for me, they are worth every penny because they bring the film right back.

Summary: Beautiful and Fun!
Comment: I love this soundtrack as it includes the score from the film (which really brings back memories from the film and great to listen to when reading the story!)

But it also includes the songs from the films from the sad "He was a friend of mine" and "A love that will never grow old" to the upbeat "King of the Road" and "Devils right hand". A real mixture!

If you like the film (or even if you haven't seen it) this soundtrack is brilliant!
