Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Hilarious in So Many Ways Comment: This is a fabulously funny series and the box set is well worth it, as although the line up changes fairly radically from series to series the script writing, the humour and the fantastic visual continuity all remain top notch. There are four series, all which chart the ups and downs of a group of teachers working in a Bristol comprehensive, Summerdown school. The humour is irreverent and at times surreal, the characters are sharp and well observed and the fantastically rich visual humour is what really makes this out of the ordinary. As you watch the plot lines unfold it is necessary to keep a sharp eye on the background for all the little treats, such as donkeys and zoo animals, midgets, and acrobats and more. Andrew Lincoln heads a stellar cast in the first two series and makes a return in series three, as the self centred English teacher, Simon. Other people to watch out for are James Corden (Smithy in Gavin and Stacey) as a super swotty student and Matthew Horn (Gavin from Gavin and Stacey) in series four. Customer Rating: Summary: Bla Bla Bla Comment: I was recommended this show from a friend that usually recommends ace shows but I really dont like Teachers, and Im not sure why. I give it 2 stars cus the acting is very good but the stories and the comedy is just blah for me. I prefer Waterloo Road which is more drama but the stories are way better - according to my taste :-) Customer Rating: Summary: Underrated brilliance! Comment: Teachers is one of the greatest shows ever, it has pretty much everything! It's criminal that the ABC (Australia) didn't promote this well and only showed it near midnight - two years after the episodes aired in the UK. It's certainly not for kids and the series title should scare them off, though the Teachers in this show are nothing like the ones I've had. It's brilliantly cast, great characters, mainly good plots with the odd tremble but with the amount of eps on here that's expected. If you buy it, you wont regret it. Customer Rating: Summary: You can't go wrong! Comment: I own this whole series in the separate sets, but buying the complete series in one is probably cheaper. Anyhow, the whole series is wonderful and dreadully funny, and, a major plus, some good looking guys to feast your eyes on too, the best of the lot being Arnie Lawson, played by Peter England in the first series, he is so utterly yummy and gorgeous looking, then there is Brian and Kurt of course, though not exactly as lovely looking as Arnie, they are very appealing characters, and then from the end of episode two, we have Matt, who is very nice looking, and then in series four, we have lovely Ben, so, plenty of fanciable guys to drool over! Not much in the female line, apart from Penny, but then I guess she makes up for the lack of female talent in the rest, though Jenny is not bad, the females in the series are none as good looking as the males, though I know it is a matter of taste and personally, I don't find Simon attractive at all, though many people seem to, so I guess there may be some viewers who prefer Liz or even Carol, but for me at least, I felt I was well catered for in the hottie stakes, especially with Arnie! And the comedy of the series is unsurpassed by anything, so wonderfully non-PC! Wish there was a series five, six and seven too! Even more outrageous. It would be so cool. Customer Rating: Summary: A wonderful gem of British comedy Comment: I bought this having watched series 4 during my first year at uni and remembering finding it absolutely hilarious. I didn't know what to expect from the first three series as the characters where different and I half expected it to take a while to find its feet, I was very very wrong. It is an absolute gem from the word go, the first two series rotate around the lives of the same characters with a few added extras for series two, these characters slowly disappear and changes in line up appear for both season three and season four. Now this usually signifies things going very wrong but luckily (and due to the script writers genius) the new teachers are hilarious too. The only negative I would say is that the reason for certain characters disappearences is never quite explained. Also the fringe characters stay the same throughout and their involvement in the series grows from series one to four, Bob, Liz, Carole and Claire are all genius characters and you can imagine quite true to real life. They are also incredibly loveable and you want to find out where their misadventures are heading next. This is an amazing achievement for bit part players in a series. I would strongly recommend that you purchase this as if you ever bothered turning up for school there is going to be a scenario you recognise somehow and its bound to make you smile when it happens.
