Back to Wicked (Idina Menzel)

Fantastic!
Comment:
Well I'm hooked.
I bought this CD about a week ago and have not stopped listening to it
since! Idina Menzel as Elphaba is extremely powerful and makes the wicked witch of the west into a
truly believable character. The best track on the CD has to be Defying Gravity which I first heard
on the Royal Variety and have been in love with since.
I think that one of the amazing
things about Wicked is it's huge appeal to a wide audience. My family absolutely love this CD as
much as I do. After buying and listening to the CD the first thing that you will want to do is book
tickets to see the show in London! I did and cannot wait to go and see Kerry Ellis take the role of
Elphaba. Joel Grey also makes a 'wonderful' wizard and even on the CD he plays the character
amazingly. Another great song on the CD, 'One Short Day' really makes you want to step into Oz and
go with Glinda and Elphaba as they discover the emerald city for the first time.
So
what gives the CD such a magical appeal? I think that the wide variety of styles on the CD such as
'I'm not that Girl' and 'I am a sentimental man' greatly contrast to the brilliant 'What is this
feeling'. It's the rollercoaster of different songs that I think makes this CD such a brilliant
find. Also, the high energy nature of the CD means that you start on track one and listen to the
end. An amazing start with 'No one Mourns the wicked' is soon followed up by Idina's first amazing
number 'The Wizard and I' which shows just how powerful her voice is. From there on, the pace never
stops and continues to a touching 'finale'.
Even if you don't like musicals as a
general rule I would recommend this CD to you as a must have. Once you hear it you will be hooked!

Wicked - One Of The Best Musicals Of All Time
Comment:
This musical is 'the shiz' , excuse the pun if you've seen the musical!! I love it, songs such as
Defying Gravity, What Is This Feeling?, Popular, No Good Deed, Thank Goodness, Foor Good, As Long As
You're Mine,I'm Not That Girl, and One Short Day really bring out all of the characters emotions,
some in an unlikely manner. The music for the singers goes from pop one minute to opera the next,
and then theres the cheesey typical musical songs. Defying Gravity is truly the song to define this
musical, the music and musical are amazing, if you have seen the musical and enjoyed it you will not
be dissapointed by this, the notation can also be bought, and is also 'Wicked', anything to do with
this musical is worth taking a look at. Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth are spectacular, as is
Kerry Ellis who is now playing Elphie in London, but Idina Menzel is a brilliant singer, and Kristin
Chenoweth cannot be described - she is amazing!!
The whole musical is amazing
Whoops
this is a bit long, but oh well - if you like your musicals you should defo buy this!

An amazing soundtrack.
Comment:
The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite films so when I saw this I thought 'Not again' they are
ruining another great film. But when I watch Defying Gravity theother month I was hooked. Idina
Menzels is amazing. Defying Gravity is such a powerful song. That and No Good Deed or the most
wounderful songs I have heard in a long time.
At this monemt in time I am filming
Wicked for my Media GCSE's. It's the hardest thing I had ever done. I want to stay faithful to the
musical as posible.
Fiyero and Elphaba are amazing and the end this show made me cry so
much.

4 Stars - Worth Buying and Adding to the Collection
Comment:
I haven't seen the whole musical (yet) but after seeing a couple of songs on the TV, I got straight
onto Amazon to look for the DVD - shame there isn't one, but the CD is as good as I can get.
/>
The best track is Defying Gravity.
From watching the scene with this song in it, it
gets so powerful at the end with the Wicked Witch (Idina Menzel) singing her heart out! From this
scene alone it has changed my view from "not another film rip" to "I want to see this!".
/>This is definitely one that you can buy straight off and be happy with the goods you get. Get it!

One for those who want to defy gravity!
Comment:
This has to be the one of the most persuasive and emotive musicals ever written. Wonderful tunes
from the master of melodies, Stephen Schwartz. I owned this CD for some time before I saw the show,
and I was not dissappointed! All of the best numbers are performed, by a great cast (Idina Menzl has
to be mentioned, giving a completely dedicated and powerful performance as Elphaba.)
The first
time I heard 'Defying Gravity' I was spellbound, and any musical lover, or those who love drama,
passion and emotion will be too.
A wonderfully uplifting CD, which you'll wear out with
playing. Highly recommended.
