Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: A great instrumental group Comment: This is a compilation of the pieces recorded by one of the best UK instrumental groups of the early 60's. I confess that I usually skip the somewhat untypical couple of tracks in which the group backs a singer. However, the reworkings of traditional tunes (eg Miller Like Wow) from their EP are good fun, albeit somewhat quirky as rock instrumentals go. Nonetheless, the main fare is the comprehensive collection of tracks from the Flee-Rekkers' 45's (ranging from the vigorous Green Jeans through to the very polished Fireball): if you liked such groups as the Shadows and Johnny and the Hurricanes, I think you'd enjoy these tracks too. I saw the group live at the Hammersmith Palais and they certainly gave a great performance: for me, the CD is a worthwhile memento of an excellent band. Customer Rating: Summary: Back to my youth Comment: I bought the 45rpm Green Jeans for about 7 shillings as a lad.I never again heard of the Flee Rekkers and thought that they had drifted apart etc. After buying this CD I wished that I had seen them live, they are a mixture of Duane Eddy,The Shadows,Lord Rockinghams Eleven,plus a few other groups who were about at the time. My one criticism is that they didn't have the confidence to sort out their own particular style. I'm still pleased that I've bought it, but I don't think my wife is !. More Reviews
