Editorial Reviews:
There’s no getting around it: there was simply no better summer blockbuster in 2007 than the astonishing The Bourne Ultimatum . It’s a film that defies expectations in many ways. Firstly, it’s a third entry in a trilogy that by some distance in the best in an already-compelling franchise. Secondly, whenThe Bourne Ultimatum kickstarts with a ferocious energy and pace, you sit there and rightly expect it not to keep the momentum going. But it does. And does it astonishingly well. Just witness the breathless sequence through Waterloo Station, convince yourself that the film has peaked then, then go and watch them top it later on in the movie.
The film itself has many trump cards, not least its leading man. Matt Damon fits the character of reluctant lead Jason Bourne perfectly, but the trick is to give him some excellent supporting players to work against. Thus, The Bourne Ultimatum also stars the excellent pair of David Straitharn and a returning Joan Allen, along with Albert Finney, Paddy Considine and Julia Stiles too.
But the hidden hero of The Bourne Ultimatum is director Paul Greengrass. Arguably one of the most interesting and talented directors working today (he was rightly Oscar-nominated for his haunting United 93 ), Greengrass has fashioned a genuinely thrilling action thriller, that bursts with an energy and relentlessness that you simply have no right to expect. That he also managed to wrap up the story Jason Bourne’s quest for his identity in the midst of it is all the more astonishing.
A terrific end to an already-impressive trilogy, there’s little else ot say about The Bourne Ultimatum , which is simply a near flawless piece of blockbuster entertainment. Put simply: don’t miss this movie. --Simon Brew

Customer Rating: Summary: Explosive papComment: This third sequel is a real disappointment, unsurprisingly. Aimed purely at those with an attention span of a nanosecond, it's virtually non-stop explosions, car and motorcycle chases, fights, continual urgent instructions into mobile phones, everything but two vital ingredients - a plot and intelligent dialogue. But then sadly they don't seem to rank as important anymore amongst many young film fans at which this film is largely aimed I suspect. Oh, if you count the "where is Jason Bourne, we need to find him and take him down" line, repeated enough times in the film, I guess that might loosely count as a plot. The special effects are excellent, no question about that. But overall this film really is a load of tosh, dwelling in fantasy land throughout its duration as well as stereotyped characters and wooden acting at its worst. Still I suppose that qualifies as 'fun' amongst the younger element.
It's a shame, because I rather liked The Bourne Identity, the first one, which was the much superior film. It had its silly moments, but somehow I was able to suspend disbelief and enjoy it. In 'Ultimatum', there is excessive camera shaking and action merely used to beef up and make scenes appear 'more exciting' because the lack of a sufficient storyline couldn't carry the film otherwise. I know there's a big market for this sort of thing, so 'Die Hard' fans should love this, but all very formulaic, predictable and a film with about as much subtlety as a flying mallet.Customer Rating: Summary: How good?!Comment: Thoroughly enjoyed this third in the series. Only wish there was a 4th, 5th and more. Bourne is the underdog with the edge over his pursuers, and they continually underestimate him. Typically. Only film I'd maybe rate this against is US Marshalls, with Tommy Lee Jones and Wesley Snipes, but Bourne is better, by far.Customer Rating: Summary: Forget James Bond .... Jason Bourne is the man!!Comment: Over the years I have gotten increasingly bored with the whole James Bond franchise. How long can they carry on turning out mediocre James Bond films where you know exactly how it'll end. In the Jason bourne films however, this new franchise seems fresh, much more realistic and features a main characher that I can actually feel for. Upto now all Jason Bourne films have been exciting, unpredictable and extremely well written, produced and acted.
I hope there will be a forth film to continue this excellent new series of films.Customer Rating: Summary: Edge of seat entertainmentComment: Re-defines "action adventure" Very enjoyable and even when you have watched it once you'll want to watch it again for all the action you missed. Buy it!Customer Rating: Summary: now thats what i call a trilogyComment: a great end to a great trilogy! unlike some it did not dissappoint and stuck to what it does best........... great action, car chases, and great close combat sequences.
