Back to hell with this!
Comment:
I loved The D's first album and to be fair to the film they have tried to move the anarchic fun of
the album into a movie. However movies need structure and comedies need jokes. This has too few of
either. I was embarressed by this film by about 20 minutes into it. It is a travesty of story
telling, a huge waste of talent and shame on the script writers for taking less time on a script
with loads of potential than I've taken to write this review. Go watch spinal tap again even if
you've seen it a 100 times it will still be time better spent than watching this once! In a word-
avoid.
PS I have never given anything a 1 star review before.

The Pick of Destiny - Picking your nose would be more fun!!!

I fell asleep half way through this. I love Jack Black, but this has to be the worst movie he has
ever made.
There's a few funny bits, but I was expecting alot from this film and it did
not deliver.
Tenacious D - More like Tedious Disaster !!!!

This is not the greatest film in the world, no...this is just a tribute...
Comment:
Sigh. I LOVE Jack Black. High Fidelity, School Of Rock, his innumerable music video cameos -
AWESOME. Naturally, it follows that I adore Tenacious D. By all rights, then, 'Pick Of Destiny'
should be the crowning achievement of the great man's career just far. And yet, while there are
moments of sheer hilarity, the first (and last?) feature-length adventure of The Greatest Band In
The World hits way too many bum notes.
It all starts out beautifully, with young JB
escaping his oppressive father (a perfectly-cast MEAT LOAF!) and sets out to find his destiny in
Hollywood, where he of course meets up with KG in a hysterical impromptu jam in the street. But from
that point on, it all gets a bit stale, flitting between scenes lifted directly from the original
HBO series, and a slew of low-rent gross-out/stoner gags that we're all too used to seeing these
days. The central idea of a guitar pick carved from Satan's tooth is great, but never adequately
exploited; and while things pick up when the Dark One himself pops up for a 'rock-off,' the whole
thing ends with a damp squib instead of a bang.
Still, if you love the D, there's still
plenty to enjoy - and this is certainly a notch better than the disappointing 'Nacho Libre.' If you
want the real deal, though, you'd do well to seek out 'Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks,' which
gives you the whole HBO series, all the music videos, an entire Brixton Academy gig, and a number of
truly messed up short films which leave 'Pick of Destiny' in the shade.

Absolute Rubbish........
Comment:
..of the highest calibre. I f*cking love this film, I've watched it about a million times already
and it rarely gets dull. In fact it doesn't. It gets better every time, mostly because you learn to
ignore the, frankly, rubbish plot and concentrate on the pure rock fury that Jables and Kage so
wholeheartedly represent. Legendary.
