Summary: Perfect!!
Comment: I don't think I've ever seen an 80s compilation where so much thought has gone into the track
selection. This was obviously compiled by someone who was paying attention in the 80s, and is of
equal value to those like me whose formative musical years were around that time, and newcomers to
some of the wonderful music that decade has to offer.

The inclusion of a Soft Cell
track other than "Tainted Love" is the first pointer that this is a quality product. It's a crying
shame that so many people seem to think they were a one-hit wonder. But throughout this collection,
even where well-known artists are included, it's not the obvious tracks we are given here. And the
inclusion of near-forgotten acts like Propaganda, The Passions, Furniture and Mobiles is icing on
the cake. The only thing that could have made this even better would have been the inclusion of a
track by the best forgotten 80s gem of them all, New Musik.

So if you really want the
kind of quality tunes that will lay to rest the myth that the 80s were "the decade that taste
forgot", buy this. You won't regret it.

Summary: A Masterpiece!
Comment: I have to say I completely agree with the previous reviews - this album is excellent. Plus, I don't
actually remember any of these tracks as was only about 3 years old when most of them were released.
This just goes to show it isn't just nostalgic value that this album holds. I had heard of very few
of these tracks before putting this CD on and now I feel I have tapped into a whole new world of
eighties music.
Truly I would say I like all the tracks on here and love the majority which I
find rare with CDs in general, especially compilations. Some of the tracks are quite odd and
certainly not your Wham-type of thing but that is obviously good - check out Mobiles - Drowning In
Berlin, genius.

I really hope they bring out Edge of the Eighties 2 but in the meantime
I am off to explore more music from the likes of Altered Images, Furniture, Art of Noise etc
etc.

Summary: Someone was paying attention....
Comment: ...back in the eighties. Instead of copying the last 80s compilation, consisting of nothing but the
usual suspects, whoever compiled this has put some real gems on this CD. The inclusion of Passions,
Landscape, Furniture, Propaganda, Swansway, Mobiles, SPK, Blue Zoo, Our Daughters Wedding, Telex &
Laurie Anderson is surprising & wonderful to see. I'm pretty sure some of those are world-firsts on
an official CD. As an afficianado of that oft-criticised decade I would prefer a series featuring
nothing but obscure and lesser-known stuff but for a major label release this is pretty
extraordinary.

Comment: Whoever put this compilation together is a genius - instead of the usual 80's fodder you get on a
compilation this gives us a whole new view on the decade - its not all about Come On Eileen and Top
Gun...Good work!!
